A movie where I was so excited about… That was cats the movie! I already saw the musical when I was a kind and I hoped that with this movie I could get some memories back. Because I found it an amazing and magical musical. So when I got the chance to go to the avant-première from cats the movie, I couldn’t wait! So time to tell you all about the jellicle songs for Jellicle cats!
Short description :
It’s a vague and strange story. But I do my best for a short description… The jellicles cats (street cats) are holding an election to see which cat wins a ‘trip’. To where exactly? I don’t know because this is a bit your own interpretation, but I would say to heaven or a rebirth. Of course, there is also a villain that is trying to ruin the election because he wants to win…
What did I think from this movie?
Yes, after watch cats I really didn’t know what to think about this movie… But opinions are different because my boyfriend liked this movie. He never saw cats the musical before, so maybe I was a bit prejudged, I thought. But then I saw some reviews about this movie and I directly noticed that I wasn’t the online one that didn’t liked cats the movie. Mainly because of the special effects, they cast amazing actors but you barely could recognize them… Yes, the special effect are risky but well made! But personally I just found it a bit too much, it distracts me all the time… And because of this I also wouldn’t recommend watching this movie with (young) children…
I know that cats the musical is also a ‘vague’ story. But what else can you expect from a musical based on poems? But the musical is so different and much better than the movie… I also found the musical less vague than the movie…. But I do love the songs in the movie. 😉 Well sung, I can’t complain about that!
Cats was besides a movie since a long time where I was happy that it was done and I was keeping an eye on my watch… So that was not a good sign. I really didn’t like this movie…
But there are of course people that loved cats (like my boyfriend 😉 ) but also in America is this movie this week in the top 10. (On the 10th place but just to give you an idea.) With this movie it’s mainly the question are you open for this? It’s a very dared movie also because of the special effects. But if you get excited after seeing the trailer? Then is there a big chance you will love this movie. But this is of course not a certainty. But if you are interested in watch cats the movie? Then you have to watch this movie for sure on big screen because so many things are happening when you watch it!
